Check out the piece, here: http://www.digitalisindustries.com/foxyd/features.php?whichlh=79 Few new things in the distro, Meneguar's brand new weirdo record of oddly arranged songs. It's great, as is the new PARADOX #10, a book/zine collection of collages from American Tapes projects, limited as all AMTAPES ae, but beautifully / professionally done, and comes with a CDr or scathing John Olson meanderings. In the words of ZS: "The newest Zs release Arms was "played" on the Howard Stern Show yesterday morning. It may not be the most flattering praise of our album, but its pretty damn funny. We'd be more than psyched if 'Balk' became the intro into Robin's news segment..." Howard and crew also made their own Zs-esque band, also very perfect. They say they will open the show with the Locust on 11/20 at the Knitting Factory,... will they? clips... http://www.zzzsss.com/mp3/zs_stern.mp3 http://www.zzzsss.com/mp3/zs_stern3c.mp3 Also, if you have any interest, you can vote for Zs' "Arms" in the "Avant Garde Album of the Year" via the Plug Awards, here: http://www.plugawards.com/general_vote.php Backing up,.. I just moved in to a new place, Bri White and I, which we are very happy with, in downtown Tempe. We're still settling in, and there's not internet connection until next weekend (so sorry for slow and short replies to e-mails in the meantime). Lot's of cool stuff going on, Aids Wolf played here and were fantastic, I played a solo set with them which ended with a sax jam in the corner closet of Modified,... Some new stuff in the distro, Raccoo-oo-oon's newest improv LP (recorded the same time as the material on the 7" and "Behold Secret Kingdom", Heartwarmer's "Honeymoon" LP, which after being one of my favorite things for years now as a burned CDr, is now finally available in the most beautiful and perfect packaging possible, I love it, and a new 7" from Vancouver's Mutators, who just played an awesome show with Soft Shoulder here in Phoenix, total punk / grunge / death. All this and lots more: store / distro. Hope everyone is doing well // feel free to get in touch: jamesfella@hotmail.com 7/20/07. (((TOURS))). RACCOO-OO-OON and BINGES just finished up the western half of Raccoo-oo-oon's summer long US tour. TENT/CITY played the AZ and southern California shows, which were all extremely incredible and full of wonderful people / at some fantastic places. The Tent/City sets were all over the place, including in the middle of the woods outside of Che Cafe in San Diego, and with the LA show at the Smell ending with a good hundred or so small telephone bells being thrown at each other by everyone in the front room of the Smell. ...a huge thanks to the guys from the VxPxC crew in LA, who hooked everyone up with a second LA show at their awesome gallery space, Echo Curio. ...and to Britt / NNF fof helping co-ordinate all of that mess too! Keep an eye and ear out on a Binges / Tent/City split of some sort this fall! SHEARING PINX are on the road right now, wrapping up a lengthy US tour. They have a limited edition version of their new LP, "Ultra Snake" with them. I think it's every bit as awesome as the "Poison Hands" CD on Gilgongo, and honestly love those guys / girl more than anything else, such nice people and I love what they're doing so much. There is a write-up / interview with them in the new issue of SKYSCRAPER magazine (#25) which is out NOW! On tour with them is Portland's Meghan Remy, who's solo project U.S. GIRLS is playing most of the shows. She has a CDr of material under that name with her, and I recommend getting it because it's fucking awesome. NIGHT WOUNDS are also about half-way through a U.S. tour as well. They'll be coming through Phoenix next week and I'm pretty stoked, I haven't seen them play in over a year now. The three way split 7" with Soft Shoulder and Knit Witch is still supposed to be going down, but in the meanwhile they have copies of their LP on Woodsist and CD on Corleone with them, and have some other awesome things in the works, including a split lathe 7" with TWIN CRYSTALS on the PERFECT lathe label, Deer and Bird from Vancouver. ((NEWS)). Myself and some other label people have been having some issues with the notifylist e-mail list system, basically meaning: some messages that are sent out are never received by anyone, and just posted to the lists' archive. Obviously very annoying. ...if this does not show up in my own inbox, I am going to resend it once or twice, so I apologize if any of you get this one more than once. ...I'm looking for a good replacement for the list, I love how basic and easy this one is, but I think it goes without saying that an improvement would be the ability of people on the list to get the messages, right? The BRI WHITE / JAMES FELLA split 7" is out now, but not in stores at all yet. It will actually probably end up in the regular European spots before the stateside spots, which is sort of silly, but just how it went down on this one. I have ink all over my hands, as I just finished up dubbing and painting another Bri / James split, this one a short tape (which will be released on C-Salt, the "recordable media" part of Gilgongo), 4 new guitar songs from Bri and one noise / guitar collage from me, all of which was recorded while I was visiting Bri up in Portland last week, which was fantastic. I love Bri, and despite that fact that it was hot and muggy, we had a ton of fun. (Which included meeting Val from Double Fantasy records and checking out Exiled, my new favorite record store, and eating freshly baked green olive bread). There is a new SOFT SHOULDER 7" which will be done sometime in August, a two song 45rpm "hit single" 7", which will be a juke-box sort of record, all of which will come with those plastic 45 adapters and with individually hand-painted / recycled 7" covers, in a run of 600 more than likely. Soft Shoulder also recently released a noise CDr on Chicago's ARBOR label. A little after that, ZS' new studio full length "Arms" will be out. Everything is here and ready, just in the production process and waiting on the CD version to be ready, which will be coming out on Planaria Inc from NYC. After that, hopefully FRENCH QUARTER's LP/CD can see the light of day! Some other stuff planned for fall that I'm ultra excited about, an LP of SILVER DAGGERS radio-recorded material, an LP for Little Women (Ben from Zs' other prog/jazz unit) and a CD compiling my own recent recordings / releases. Hope everyone is very well, please get in touch with any questions or anything at all. 7/7/06. SHEARING PINX are the best band / people in the world, go see them on tour, now. Makes me sad that you only get to spend a few hours with such great people. I will be in Portland from Tuesday 7/10 - Sunday 7/15. Anything ordered (in the past couple of days and) before Monday will go out on tuesday before I leave. (This includes copies of the newest releases to Forte, Gilgongo's European distributer). When I get home, new mailing list. The one I've been using has been messing up a bunch, not just for me, but for a few others who use the same service. I'll have my computer with me, just obviously not records. Questions // good input on places to hit up in PDX, ect - jamesfella@hotmail.com Hope everyone is well! MYSPACE: http://www.myspace.com/gilgongorecords Get in touch for anything at all. jamesfella@hotmail.com 7/5/07. Jamie Stra - blind_superhero@yahoo.co.uk - my e-mails to you are being returned as undeliverable. Please get in touch with another e-mail address or on the Gilgongo myspace maybe? Sorry. 7/4/07. The five shows Tent/City played with Raccoo-oo-oon and Binges were incredible, some of the most memorable shows I've ever played, from a set that was 100 feet into the thick forest that surrounds the Che Cafe, to a set that ended with the entire front room of the Smell screaming and throwing small telephone ringer bells at each other, to a super warm Echo Curio show to a packed gallery of the most appreciative and positive people ever, to playing with so many rad bands in such a short amount of time (Foot Village, Deep Jew, Bobby Birdman, Lucky Dragons, Pocahaunted). Really great people + shows. PORTLAND: I had Bri's e-mail address wrong on the last update. She is still totally into playing whatever shows you've got going on, only this time around I'll supply a working e-mail address: timeforawalk@gmail.com. Can't wait: Shearing Pinx / U.S. Girls (M. Remy) / Soft Shoulder - here in PHX, 7/5 at Trunkspace. Hope everyone is well! MYSPACE: http://www.myspace.com/gilgongorecords Get in touch for anything at all. jamesfella@hotmail.com 6/20/07. BRI WHITE / JAMES FELLA - split 7" is out now! I'm really excited about how this came out, though I wish Bri was here for me to share the fun putting all of these together! She is currently living up in Portland! If you or someone you know sets up shows in the area, get ahold of her, she is totally ready to start playing! timeforawalk@hotmail.com. Meanwhile, I'm doing some solo shows of my own down here, keeping busy, ect. ZS' "Arms" LP will be out this summer, probably towards the end (to coincide with the release of the CD version on Planaria). Also soonish, Phoenix singer-songwriter FRENCH QUARTERS' first proper full length CD/LP will be out, a 2 song Soft Shoulder 7" as well (probably 500 copies, all with hand "painted" covers). Lots of touring going on this summer! Raccoo-oo-oon, Night Wounds, Shearing Pinx, Tent/City and French Quarter are all gonna be on the road. See: TOURS. Please check out "catalog and distro" for lots of non-Gilgongo releases in addition to the the things that have come out on the label. I've got a TON of copies of the CD version of Raccoo-oo-oon's new full length "Behold Secret Kingdom", which came out on my sister label from Sweden, Release the Bats! Hope everyone is doing well! Another hot AZ summer is here in full force! Eesh! 6/1/07. TENT CITY - "Drought" LP is finally out, now! The record is clear and one-sided, the B-side is dual and multi-colored silk-screened, with a 20 minute set on the other. We're all really excited about this being finished, and are really happy with how it came out. Check more info out, here: RECORDS / ORDER. Stores: Although this is limited to 330 copies total, REVOLVER USA will have copies in a week or so. NIGHT WOUNDS' awesome full length, "Allergic to Heat", will be out soon as an LP on Woodsist, which is Jeremy from Woods / Meneguar / Fuck It Tapes' label, and as a CD on Corleone. Aside from the two split 7"s, SOFT SHOULDER are also going to do one of the many in a series of split cassettes that SHEARING PINX are doing with other bands on Isolated Now Waves. TENT CITY's "current" releases are all out of print, but aside from the upcoming LP, there's going to be a CDr of studio recorded material on Arbor CDr, and a cassette on Tape Tektoniks from Germany. There might be a few self-released things coming up here and there too. Tape Tektoniks is also doing a split CDr of myself and Shivers, which is a project of Ulf's, who runs the label. I'm going to do a US version on C-Salt. Our two versions will have different art. Tons of new stuff in the "distro" or whatever you would like to call it. Check it out. Really excited about all of the upcoming releases. Thanks for everyone who's been so supportive and rad and awesome. "Love", very much so. 8/30/06. Fathers Day - "I Don't Want To Do This" 7" OUT NOW! Woods / Raccoo-oo-oon - split LP on Not Not Fun is OOP, but I have a few copies, here. James Fella - "Sound Recordings #1" is out now on Gilgongo via C-Salt. 6/25/06. Night Wounds / Kiosk / Hot Girls Cool Guys / Finally Punk all played / stayed here a couple days. First show was at Modfiied, second show was at Ryan's house in Tempe, both totally ruled. All four of these bands are on full US tours and you definatly should be heading out to see them. Night Wounds and Hot Girls Cool Guys - tour just started, going counter-clockwise from LA. Kiosk and Finally Punk - tour's half way over - still hitting the east coast, midwest. Kiosk are flying from Chicago back to LA and playing another show there before flying back home to Australia. I think there's a chance Soft Shoulder might go out and play it, but I think I'll be heading out for it regardless. This band is super fun and beyond sweet people, and seeing as they are from Australia, I doubt I'm going to see them in another month or two, you know? The Juniper Strain and Tent City LPs showed up, but had to send them back because they were all shaped like bowls. Both LPs are one-sided, and I guess the blank stamper the plant used on both of them was not correctly made. It's not a big deal, they're getting repressed, but it's still annoying. ...Not sure when George Moshington 7" is happening, I'm really just helping out on that one. Knit Witch / Night Wounds / Soft Shoulder 7" is gonna have to wait till Night Wounds are done with tour. Stuff going on in Arizona. 6/24/06 - Soft Shoulder is playing a benefit at Trunkspace to help pay for an A/C installation. 6/26/06 - Fathers Day and George Moshington are opening for Good Riddance. Hope everyone is doing great! 6/6/06. Woods dropped off most of the tour with Raccoo-oo-oon due to Lucas / Nonhorse having a lot of stuff stolen during a break in before they left. (He couldn't go with). However, their awesome split LP with Raccoo-oo-oon is out on Not Not Fun. It's just fantastic! They have a full length coming out on Shrimper in the near future. Night Wounds' "Allergic to Heat" full length is coming out on Jeremy's (WOODS) label, Woodsist. They have a cassette coming out on his cassette label as well, Fuck It Tapes. June / July, they are doing a huge full U.S. tour with Hot Girls Cool Guys, a bunch of those dates will line up with Kiosk and Finally Punk's tour too. Reindeer Tiger Team's 7" is running low on copies, I might do a repress later, but it depends on lots of things. In the meantime, there are plenty of copies of the CD version available from both them and myself. (They did a CD version independantly at the same time that the 7" came out). Also, they are leaving AZ and moving to NY, which is unfortunate, because even though we don't spend as much time together as I wish we would, I love those quys a real lot. Tent City have some releases coming up other than the 12",... a split cassette with Wigwam on Not Not Fun, a few self-released things (a VHS, a CD-r that comes with pieces of the rug from the stage at Stinkweeds, Tempe - which recently closed and the release will pat tribute to), and a release on Arbor CDR too. Stuff going on here in Arizona. 6/07/06 - Worms. Soft Shoulder. at 36 Chambers in Tucson. 6/08/06 - Iron Lung in Phoenix. at?? 6/10/06 - Coughs. Dynasty. NIGHT WOUNDS - JUNE / JULY TOUR. a bunch of these shows will line up with Kiosk / Finally Punk's tour. (Such is the case here in Phoenix, AZ). Whole things should be a serious blast! They're live cassette should be coming together sometime soon on neighbor cassette label, Workout Tapes. Also, their LP should be out by tour! dates and info as stuff get's set up, here: NIGHT WOUNDS. updated - 4/26/06. The Juniper Strain and Tent City records have been sent out into the wide world to be turned into large circles that will be used on record players in a couple of months. I'm totally excited for both of these. After that, a three way split 7" with Knit Witch, Night Wounds and Soft Shoulder. I'm extremely stoked on that too! Be sure to check out Night Wounds this summer when they pass through your town on a full U.S. tour with Hot Girls Cool Guys. Super nice people and a blast to see play. They have an LP in the works which is supposed to be out by the time they hit the road, and as I found out while riding through only the most dangerous neighborhoods of LA in early April, it's really good. Also, I am going to be leaving Tempe for about four months. Not a big deal or anything, but I'll only be checking to PO Box like twice a week at most. I'm pretty excited for my return in September though, definatly. In the meantime, sorry for slacking on stuff, specifically personal communications. I've been super busy packing stuff up for my temporary move, and not stop music stuff. (Just played three days in a row). I've had very little free time with all of that stuff on top of work, so, just saying, sorry. While I'm gone, I'll have plenty of time to zone out and do stuff. I'm pretty excited. Lot's of awesome things going on in Phoenix lately. Here's what I'm up to,... 4/29/06 - Ryan Avery's "REAL COACHELLA" (Trunkspace - Phx, AZ). 5/02/06 - Stephan Flynn / Tent City (collab?). 8-Bit Porno. (Trunkspace - Phx, AZ). 5/09/06 - Coke Ballons. real fast - 4/4/06. Tonight on ASU campus here in Arizona, Steven Reker (Reindeer Tiger Team), Yolanda Bejarano (Snow Songs, Chula), Aaron Gerwien (Black Feet) and Robin Vining (Sweet Bleeders, Colorstore) will perform their pieces written in reaction to several pieces of art for an instalment: ART INSPIRES MUSIC: Interdisciplinary Gallery Project 3. There will be listening stations to listen to the songs in their recorded format, and I believe that they will be available to purchase in the form of a CD-r, sold at the gallery. More info, here: http://asuartmuseum.asu.edu/artinspiresmusic/index.html Real update, soon. Hope everyone is doing great!
updated - 3/20/06. The Juniper Strain demo has been remastered and sounds awesome! I would have been totally happy releasing it the same exact way that they sounded 5 years ago, but this just makes it even more exciting. The extra song is a rougher sounding demo of a song I'm not sure I even remember! Things are going to start rolling with this 12" in the next week. At the same time, the Tent City 12" is just about ready to be sent off. It will be a live recording of a set from last month at Trunkspace, from a show played with amazing musicians and wonderful people, The Dead Science, who if you have not heard, I highly reccomend checking out. Tent City has some other projects that will hopefully come together in the near future too! More info on the "Tent City project and campaign for FREEDOM", here. Also, I added a bunch of "distro" stuff that I have in a box in my room. Please be sure to e-mail before paying though, because I only have a few copies of some of them. ....here. If you would like a copy, ask for one, because I just got a box of like 30 of them. Next issue is going to be the last issue, and when I have more time and space, I'll explain why I feel really bad about it. In the meantime, I feel like I'll barely have time to write something for this last issue before the upcoming deadline.
Hope everyone is doing 100% awesome! 3/01/06. Things available,... (3). Woods - "Ram" 7" - $4ppd. (2). Night Wounds - "Rat Magic" 7" - $4ppd. (1). Yesterday, I did a show in my living room for Brian Miller and Kevin Shields (Eva), the wonderful folks behind Deathbomb ARC. Whole night was magic! There was blood, a smashed guitar, secret start tent jamming, thrown amps and a lot of packaging tape. Please check them out as they travel across the country. Noise artist Pedestrian Deposit is on tour with him, and he is fantastic as well! more info: Brian Miller + "Kevin Shields". I have copies of a Tent City 3" CD-r called "Coccoon" for sale. I also have a "Valentine CD" that I made for Valentines Day this year (instead of cards as usual). If you would like one, send me something in trade. If you don't want to do that, $2 will do I suppose. It's a mix of drone, noise, weird guitar riffs and clarinet squeeks. More info and MP3s from both of these: records / sounds. (2/05/06). Some shows comping up in Phoenix,... 2/09/06 - Brian Miller + "Kevin Shields". Pedestrian Deposit. 8-Bit Porno. Tent City. - 1521 HOUSE. 2/21/06 - Dead Science. Reindeer Tiger Team. (I strongly urge you to see Menguar when they come through your town. Totally amazing band).
My friend Ryan recently started a cassette label called WORKOUT TAPES. He recently did one for a singing/songwriting neighbor, "French Quarter" which came out great. Next up: an amazing sounding Night Wounds live set with the best art of all time, just about. Some friends and I recently started a project called TENT CITY. We're busy, but not with practicing. 1/21/06. Next,.. The Juniper Strain - (vinyl reissue of) demo. (1/21/06 - Woods MP3 is up now, here). Woods 7" is now available, and it looks and sounds wonderful. There are 1,000 of them, all on opaque white vinyl. The photograph of the ram (in the woods) on the cover is just so vivid, it came out perfectly. I'll have an MP3 up soon. Meanwhile, one off of their CD / double cassete is available here. (The CD version of that will be out soon on Releas the Bats from Sweden. I'l have copies of that, and they will have copies of this 7". I believe you can still buy the double cassette from Jeremy (of Woods)'s label: Fuck It Tapes). That sounds confusing. To rephrase all of it... Woods - "Ram" 7" is out now / available here. Woods - "How to Survive In / In the Woods" 2 X cass. - Fuck It Tapes. Woods - "How to Survive In / In the Woods" CD. (soon). - Release the Bats.
I did a show for Night Wounds in my living room on Saturday, January 7th. It was absolutly amazing. Fathers Day (who are from here) played too. It was also the first show for a new band I am doing, which is currently called Soft Shoulder, though that is only temporary. The entire night was an amazing, fun and positive thing, and I am in love with the whole world at the moment. (Specifically Night Wounds, Fathers Day, and the tons of people who crammed themselves into my small house to see some very loud bands play and share something beautiful). 12/20.05. The Woods 7" should be out a week or two after New Years. The CD version of their amazing double cassette should be done right around the same time on Release the Bats! Night Wounds' split 7" with Coughs is out now, and part of a 7" series that Not Not Fun is doing called "Bored Fortress" (which includes other AMAZING bands like Silver Daggers, Raccoo-oo-oon, Hospitals and more). This is the first one, and it came out great! More info is available here. 9/29/05. (and 10/14/05). Next: Woods - "Ram" 7". Steven, of Reindeer Tiger Team, also has a project of his own, which he calls Wonderful Wednesday. He writes some really beautiful songs, and recently posted one of them on a new myspace thing: HERE. I wrote a work related collumn in the new HeartAttack, I believe it's issue #47. The issue was work-themed. It also features one of the best ads I have ever seen, courtesy of The Electric Human Project. Definatly worth the look. "The Woods" are now going by "Woods". Their 7" will be called "Ram", and I'm very excited for it. In the meantime, they have a double cassette available on Fuck It Tapes. http://www.fuckittapes.com. This should be out in a couple of months. Lot's of awesome shows in Arizona in October,... The Gossip, Love as Laughter, Wolf Eyes, and Prurient (or Black Dice and Growing, same night - different cities), Medications, Sleeping People, ect, ect. Also, my friend Coolgroove and I are heading out to San Diego on Halloween for Rocket from the Crypt's last show! They are renting out a hotel for it, and it looks like it's going to be pretty amazing! If you're going, get ahold of me! 8/2/05. Next: The Woods - 7". In the past several weeks, I've seen Wives, Crime Desire and Wierd War all play some pretty awesome shows. I am pretty excited about (probably) heading out to San Diego at the end of the month to see a ton of bands play a multiple day thing at Che Cafe, including Friends Forever, Night Wounds, Mika Miko, and many more. I don't know where or how FF will play there,... hopefully the place won't burn down!
7/7/05. Sorry for the delay on an update! The Night Wounds 7", which is called "Rat Magic", is out now, as in today! They are $4ppd, and 100% ready to go! More info on that, here: records/order. Night Wounds have a bunch of other records planned, including splits with the amazing Coughs from Chicago (7"), and Die Fugue USA (10"). They're also getting settled into LA super fast, already jamming with people and they've got several shows in the near future. I am definatly open to trades, and if you do a distro / mailorder, just get in touch if you'd like some copies at wholesale. In Europe, our releases will be available though Adagio 830, which is a label and distro run by Robert from the awesomely loud band, Zann. I hope to have things available from other places in the near future, so we'll see. (Some other Euro / non-US, as well as US distros). Phoenix has been very hot lately. Hot as in heat, not as in awesome. Though I'm seeing Tussle tonight and Scout Niblett on friday. That's good.
5/20/05. I will be out of town until June 1st, so an apology in advance for a lack of reply in e-mails and other online garbage until then. (Sorry)!
I am driving to Chicago and hanging out there for a few days, then flying back and heading out to San Diego to see the Gossip play. I'll be back in town for a couple of days, and then I will be out in LA for a couple more to see Shoplifting play a few shows.
The Night Wounds 7" should be waiting for me at home when I get back from San Diego! I'm going to take Night Wounds copies to them in LA. Also, I haven't seen the new Heartattack yet, but the ad I ran says that Night Wounds are doing a summer tour with Black Castle. They aren't, as they are moving to LA instead. Reindeer Tiger Team leave for tour today. Please try to check them out! They are completely wonderful live, and two of the nicest boys ever! Check these places for dates: http://www.reindeertigerteam.com http://www.myspace.com/reindeertigerteam They put a couple of new songs on their myspace! (Wells and Murderous Thumbs are new and awesome!). When I get back in town, I plan on making lots of music (both on my own and with other people who I love). I also plan on making a ton of mix tapes with neat art and ect, and maybe selling them for a few dollars on here to anyone who might want one. Hope everyone is doing really well! Thanks! - james. / jamesfella@hotmail.com

5/2/05. Night Wounds aren't touring with Black Castle anymore,.. instead, they will be moving to LA in June, which is neat for me, as traveling to Maine, or Baltimore for that matter, to see them play would be quite an expensive endeavor. The test presses of their 7" are being done tomorrow, so hopefully this will be done by June 1st as originally expected! Reindeer Tiger Team's site is up now. Their tour dates are there. E-mail them if they are playing your area and you are interested in information on the show. After their initial month or so on the east coast (they get to play with and see La Mi Vida Violenta, which I'm pretty jealous about), they will be going up the west coast with the band Sail On, Sailor!
Thanks! - james. / jamesfella@hotmail.com

3/30/05. The One AM Radio show in our living room was very nice. I've never been around so many respectful, polite people, it was honestly kind of strange. I'm really glad so many people showed up on such a short (like a week's) notice. If you can help with shows on the east coast / south east, you really definatly should. Please check these dates,...
